Privacy Policy
Effective June 12, 2026
Distance Club is a training app for small groups of friends ("pods") who train for endurance events in different cities. This policy explains what data the app handles, what stays private, and the controls you have. The short version: your health data is yours, nothing is shared with your pod unless you switch it on, and we never sell data or use it for advertising.
Data the app collects
- Health and fitness data, only with your explicit permission through Apple Health (HealthKit) or services you connect (for example Strava, Garmin, Oura, Withings): workouts and activities, sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, VO₂ max, nutrition, and body measurements such as weight.
- Profile information you provide: name, city, profile photo, the races you plan, and your goal times.
- Pod content you create: cheers, comments, and messages on race day.
How it is used
- To show you your own training, recovery, and race readiness.
- To show the pod members you choose the categories you choose, side by side with theirs.
- Nothing else. No advertising, no sale of data, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no use of health data for marketing. Data from Apple Health is used only to provide the app's features, consistent with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
Sharing controls
Sharing with your pod is per category (workouts, readiness and sleep, weight and body, strength, race predictor, nutrition) and per connected app. Categories you turn off are simply invisible to your pod. Defaults are the least-revealing option, and new pod members never see anything from before they joined. You can change any of this at any time in Settings, Sharing & privacy.
Where data lives
In the current release, your data is stored on your device. Data read from Apple Health stays on your device unless you explicitly share a category with your pod. As pod syncing features ship, shared data will be transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS), stored encrypted at rest, and limited to what your sharing settings allow. Credentials for connected services are never stored in the app; connections use each service's own hosted sign-in, and we never see your passwords.
Deleting your data
Settings, Sharing & privacy, Delete account removes your data from the app. You can also revoke Apple Health access at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Health. For anything else, email us and we will handle it promptly.
Children
Distance Club is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change applies. The latest version always lives at this URL.
